Vikings star joins full cast in new Cillian Murphy movie

The Dark Knight Trilogy and Principle director Christopher Nolan is hard at work on his next film Oppenheimera biographical thriller about one of the creators of the atomic bomb.

Peaky Blinders‘ Cillian Murphy reunited with Nolan after the Batman movies, Dunkirk and Creation to play the lead role, when we already know that big stars like Robert Downey Jr, Kenneth Branagh, Emily Blunt, Matt Damon, Florence Pugh, Rami Malek, Jack Quaid and many more have also been cast.

We can now add a new name to this impressive list of stars: vikings starring Gustaf Skarsgård.

According to The Hollywood Reporterthe actor will play Hans Bethe, a German-American physicist responsible for leading the theoretical division of the Manhattan Project, and who was ultimately awarded the Nobel Prize in Physics in 1967.

Skarsgård already has a connection with the director, having appeared in Westworlda show co-created by Christopher’s brother, Jonathan Nolan, who also served as a screenwriter on some of Christopher’s films.

Speaking about his role as J Robert Oppenheimer in the film, Cillian Murphy said: “It’s the first time he’s [Nolan]gave me a lead, which still shocks me a bit, but I’m thrilled.

“It’s a huge part and a lot of work. But in my opinion, you’re working with one of the greatest living directors, so you’re in good hands. The difference with this one is that the story is there , everyone knows what But Chris tells it in a different way, as you’d expect with Chris That’s all I can say.
