Env Min Yadav urges world leaders and citizens to embrace Mission LiFE philosophy

Emphasizing that climate change goes beyond mere policy-making and that its effects transcend geopolitical boundaries, Union Environment Minister Bhupender Yadav on Monday urged world leaders and citizens to embrace the philosophy of “Mission LiFE”, a movement focused on the conscious and deliberate use of resources.

Launched by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Mission LiFE stands for Lifestyle for the Environment, a pro-people, pro-planet effort that seeks to shift the world from mindless and wasteful consumption to conscious and deliberate use. natural resources.

As developed countries shy away from taking responsibility for the climate change catastrophe wreaking havoc on developing and small countries, Yadav, speaking at an event at the India Pavilion during COP27 in Sharm el-Sheikh in Egypt, reminded world leaders that the luxury of passing the buck is no longer there.

“We are at a critical moment in our common fight against climate change, a moment that requires not only government effort, but the contribution of all stakeholders, every individual, to ensure a sustainable and equitable planet,” said- he said adding “It (LiFE) inspires us to do everything that can be done in our day to day lives to protect the environment as our Prime Minister has said”.

“I call on world leaders and global citizens to embrace the philosophy of LiFE and lend their support to be the change they wish to see in the world. The luxury of passing the buck is no longer there” , During the event, a compendium “Prayaas Se Prabhaav Tak – From Unconscious Consumption to Conscious Use” by the Union Ministry of Environment and the United Nations Development Program was launched.

The compendium highlighted the best traditional practices of India. It also highlights key behavioral changes, including living in harmony with nature by practicing the philosophy of “Vasudhaiv Kutumbkam” (the world in one family).

Yadav added that Egypt and India are examples of centuries-old civilizations that have sustainable lifestyle practices embedded in their culture and traditions.
